Jill, screwed up hormones is the best explanation I can come up with. It's the damnedest thing. It's also hard to find cute bras in DDD sizes.

I've got about 4 I'm sending in and Mom ponied the same amount. I'm working on a memorial one right now that's in SPQ colors (the straps are so stretched it's not good for wearing anymore). One cup is for my grandmother and the other will be for Valerie.

Jill, bless your lil' ol' heart!

I posted the link to this on my Facebook page, and also shared it with my Secret Pals group, encouraging everyone to send in a bra.

I'll be sure to keep Valerie in mind. I have a very dear friend going through breast cancer treatment right now, and it left me just devastated for her. She's been a trooper, and she has lots of love and support. Would that everyone could have that type of caring behind them.

My condolences, also, in the loss of your dear Mama. I'm not real good with words in those type situations, but I do care and do feel your loss.

Maggie--what is UP? You are the third woman today to tell me she's gone UP a cup size this year--which is just CRUEL, considering I haven't EVER grown a tit in my LIFE and here y'all are, getting bigger ever' day! NO FAIR! But yay--send us your "tiny" bras!

Queen Dr. Lundy, I have never spoken at Southern and would love to--I hope something can be worked out sometime. And I agree--the only way to miss the pain I feel at the loss of Mama--would have been to have never known the LOVE to begin with--the old "if you ain't got nuthin', you got nuthin' to lose" syndrome--we had a LOT to lose and we have--but it was totally WORTH IT to have what we had for our whole lives!

Queen Betsy--It really brings it home when you look at your own child, doesn't it? Thank you so much for your bras and your donation--it all helps--and CARING helps more than anything.

Dear God, I am blessed to be associated with such amazing people--just look back over the blog posts for the past several months--very humbling and uplifiting --thank you all. xxooj.

Oh, my. My own "little" one just turned 15. It breaks my heart to think of Valerie and what she went through. Too bad something couldn't have been done before her death. Sending my bras and what little money I have. It won't be enough, but it will help.

Hi Jill, I am on faculty at USM and will be donating bras of mine, my dear sweet late mother and my friend (and co author) who lost her 'girls' last summer to breast cancer. Where will be bras be hanging, what river?
We burned our bras in the 60s, how cool, now we are hanging them and using them for women who can really use them. THANK YOU THANK YOU, hope you can visit us at USM sometimes in near future. Love your work, your humor, love for animals and love for Mississippi. Peace be with you in the days, months, years to come as you learn to live without your sweet mother. Love never dies but it hurts so much sometimes. A small price for the honor of knowing true and eternal love.

Valerie J. will hold a place in my heart and prayers. That's something no one should have to go through alone.

I've got the address down for the bras. I went up a cup size this year and have plenty that don't fit anymore. I'll send a few. For some reason, I like the thought of having one or more of my bras strung across the Mississippi.
